Summer Dream was created in isolation as a personal expression of anti racism. Created in February of 2020 prior to the social unrest in the United States. Painted in his Dorian Gothic style, Weary uses skin decay as a metaphor for the corrosive nature generational trauma has on communities of color. The damp, harsh blues and greens to show the life being drained. The warm and vibrant yellows and reds let the audience know that there is still life and soul left in this man. A man that has witnessed the murder of his elders, peers, and children.
